Black Letter Game

Black Letter Game is a subscription series of physical puzzles, delivered to subscribers once a month by mail. It is one of several high-end puzzle events spun off by some of the creators of The Game (treasure hunt). The Black Letter Game includes elements of puzzlehunts, scavenger hunts, and locked room mysteries, set within an immersive story about a fictitious institution called Black Letter Labs. Unlike those other puzzle events, the Black Letter Game sends the puzzles directly players, so no travel is necessary to play the game. And unlike puzzle events, which may last as long as a few hours, a day, or a weekend, the Black Letter Game runs over a period of several months.
A unique feature of the Black Letter Game is that the puzzles are all contained in “artifacts” — physical objects that are designed to appear to be everyday items (such as a paperback book or a roadmap), but are all completely fake. To help maintain the illusion of the game’s fictional universe, the creators of the Black Letter Game remain anonymous.
